There are a few reasons that you can request an alimony/spousal support modification. These reasons include:
- The receiving spouse has become self-sufficient and does not need it anymore
- The spouse providing support is unable to afford payments either through losing their job or other reasons
- The receiving spouse is not making an effort to become self-supporting
- The receiving spouse got remarried or has entered into a new domestic partnership
- Child support has ended
