When you are going through the divorce process there are a few different ways to handle your case.
The first is mediation. If the divorce is not contested by either party, mediation allows you to work together to reach a divorce agreement outside of court. This can be done using a third-party professional mediator or you can choose to work with your attorneys to negotiate.
If both parties cannot reach an agreement, the divorce case can be handled through litigation. This is when the case gets presented in family law court and a judge makes a final ruling on contested matters. While many divorce cases require some level of litigation, this is the costlier option for handling a divorce.
